The history
The story of Valgroup's Shrink Bags unit began in 2007, when a growth opportunity was identified in a Brazilian market with only two significant suppliers. Despite the technical complexity and high investment required, the company decided to enter a strategic segment, expanding its operations in higher value-added packaging.
Between 2007 and 2009, the project went through an intense preparation phase, with studies, technical visits, and closer relationships with suppliers and clients. In 2009, the operation was structured and the manufacture of PVDC shrink films began, mainly intended for the preservation and protection of food.
INVESTMENT
IN TECHNOLOGY
The early years demanded perseverance. Production involved expensive equipment and raw materials, low initial productivity, and technical challenges different from those faced by Valgroup in its traditional businesses, which until then had been more focused on high-volume products. After approximately two years of operation, results began to appear, initiating a consistent growth cycle.
The expansion happened gradually. This growth was accompanied by challenges related to quality, the availability of raw materials, and the ability to meet market demand during periods of higher demand. Proximity to customers and a willingness to address problems directly were fundamental in strengthening trust and building lasting relationships.
In 2015, the unit reached an important milestone by starting to supply major companies in the meat processing sector. This achievement strengthened its credibility and consolidated Valgroup among the leading suppliers of shrink bags in the Brazilian market.
Expansion
Geographic
With the consolidation of operations in Brazil, a new phase of internationalization began. Exports expanded to countries in South America, through partner distributors, and to the United States, utilizing the structure of the Findlay unit, acquired by Valgroup in 2014.
Expanding the product portfolio also became essential to sustain growth and meet the diverse needs of the meat processing industry. In 2019, the unit launched a specific film for bone-in meat. The following year, it developed a solution for frozen meat, unprecedented in the market at that time, based on a demand identified among customers. The new products increased the operation's competitiveness and opened up commercial opportunities.
Operations
distributed
Investments in technology continued in the following years. In 2021, the printing sector was structured, adding value to products and expanding the solutions offered to customers. In 2023, the acquisition of a benchmark machine for the production of films for bone-in meat represented an advance in the technological and productive standard of the unit.
In 2025, the operation advanced on two new fronts: the development of a highly competitive product for the meat and cheese markets and the incorporation of new technology into the production process, providing gains in quality, consistency and competitiveness.
LOOKING at
THE FUTURE
Throughout its history, Valgroup has built an operation capable of serving different customer profiles, from small businesses served by distributors to large meat processing groups. This diversity has reinforced the importance of understanding market needs and developing long-term partnerships, balancing immediate opportunities with strategic decisions for the future.
