The history

The development of the Technical Films unit marked a new chapter in Valgroup's journey, expanding the company's operations into higher-value, technologically advanced solutions

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the operations initially began with production of low-density printed films for markets such as sugar, flour and milk flexible packaging. At that time, the main goal was to meet the growing demand for improved packaging performance. Plastic already offered significant advantages over traditional materials, including longer shelf life, enhanced product protection and substantial gains in logistical efficiency.

INVESTMENT
IN TECHNOLOGY

Production operations initially started within Valplast, using rotogravure printing technology. As demand increased and the market evolved, the operation quickly gained relevance, requiring a more robust and specialized structure.

In the early 1990s, the operations were transferred to Tecnoval, where the business became more structured and consolidated itself as a unit focused on Technical Films, strengthening Valgroup's position in the flexible packaging market.

Expansion
Geographic

From 2012 onward, the transfer of operations to Itamonte, in the state of Minas Gerais, marked the beginning of a new expansion phase. The significant increase in the production capacity was accompanied by a major technological transformation driven by continuous investments in modern equipment, new extrusion technologies and advanced printing systems.

These investments significantly increased operational efficiency, productivity and quality standards, enabling the unit to achieve levels comparable to the most advanced players in the global market.

Operations
distributed

Throughout this evolution, the unit's portfolio also has undergone a significant transformation. Once focused on simpler applications, it evolved into highly technical and specialized solutions, including films for the tissue industry, PE/PE laminates, MDO structures, BOPP labels, EVOH barrier films for high-value-added applications and stretch hood solutions.

This advancement also kept pace with market changes. Customer expectations have significantly increased over the years, making quality, efficiency, and consistency essential requirements for competitiveness.

LOOKING at
THE FUTURE

The market began to demand increasingly higher levels of operational control, technical excellence and adaptability.

The Technical Films unit has built a journey marked by continuous evolution, adaptability and an ongoing pursuit of excellence, characteristics that continue to drive Valgroup’s growth to this day.
